The Edibles (and Drinkables. : )

|---|---|---|
The first night, we ate nachii! Well, sort of. I'd planned to whip up a big tray of 'em for the tired travelers...but I was running late, and so anxious to get to Sonoma, that I forgot half the fixins at home. Another problem was that the Bentley kitchen was tiny - almost no counterspace - and not really equipped for slinging nachii for 4. I wound up making the guacamole with my hands. But I did wash them first. I think. |

But first...cocktail hour. : ) This artful arrangement was engineered by Sadie and Harriet, and with only a minimum of debate. : ) We even had umbrellas to grace our glasses, thanks to sister-girl Pat. Within nanoseconds after this picture was taken, those puppies were drained. So we had another. And another...and another...and another...: ) |
YES! YES! YES! This is the only good excuse for eating your evening meal - cake! We bought these lil' slices o' heaven at a yuppie grocery in Sonoma - don't worry, we wore our tiaras to ward off the cooties - and played musical dessert with them after dinner. It was the only time during their stay that I seriously considered getting the gals so drunk they would pass out cold. More cake for me! It's not greed, it was just...a selfless attempt to relieve them of the dietary burdens of too much fat and sugar. No, really. |

Another evening's din-din. I wish I could identify all the food on this table. I can make out the peaches, bread, and strawberries and melon in the foreground, and the olives in the background, but whatever resided on the plate in the middle shall remain a mystery. : ) I was pleased to note the Tostitos cheez-in-a-jar was a holdover success from the prior nachii munch-a-thon. I wondered why the gals wouldn't let me take that jar home...hmmm. ; )
