St. Patrick's Day Limmerick Contest - Winners 1. Debra, for her entry "D'oh" about Ali(son) and her lucky dh. She followed the rules, the appropriate lines rhymed, her rhythm was (almost) perfect, and I liked her clever use of the Irish-sounding "floor-ah and more-ah." ali pinned her dh to the floorah, till the poor man cried, "Faith and begorrah! My corned beef you have mushed, And my shamrocks are crushed... never mind, dear. Just do it some more-ah! 2. Mandy, for her entry "St. Patty's Fire". She followed the rules, the lines appropriate lines rhymed, her rhythm was (almost ) perfect, and I *loved* her play on words..."burn you erin go braughs!" On Kari, On Buggie, On Lester, Rah Rah! You make me laugh and shout my Ha Ha's! It's time you know Time to let go It's time to to burn your erin go braughs! (and wouldn't that be a five-alarm fire?!) 3. Linda, for Lim'rick Love VIII. She followed the rules, the appropriate lines rhymed, her rhythm was (almost) perfect, and I loved her subject matter [ :-) ] and the way she tied it to spring and Ireland. Of all our lovliest WWWimmen It's Harriet knows most about swimmin'; The algae so green Made a rare Irish queen And a story that left us all grinnin'!! Those three ladies will each receive a package of pralines. Honorable Mentions: 1. Fiona, who wrote a brilliant limerick about our beloved Skinny One from Down Under. Unfortunately, it did not have any reference to spring or March or St. Pat. There once was a gal from Down Under Whose bum ripped her clothing asunder She waged a good fight Now the t-shirt's not tight On the Skinny One, ain't she a wonder? 2. Tess, whose late entry was wonderful--but late excuse me for submitting this late but i've been spending some time with my mate fair mistress she is tho i know her as liz we're engaged in a month long hot date. and last but not least, The BOOBY PRIZE has to go to Mandy, for her entry "Kari's Dairy" (Sorry about the tiara, Mandy!) Kari from Dallas, She has triple D's Her boobs are so huge they hang to her knees They swing and they sway The Leprechauns say That Kari from Dallas is Mandy's main squeeze! Thank all of you who participated! We found it great fun to read and laugh with you!
