When sending an electronic postcard, please make sure you have the
correct e-mail address. We get over 100 returned per day with undeliverable addresses --
over 90% of those are from AOL users -- and quite a few people write us to complain.
Remember, the postcards are sent from OUR mail server, not yours or your service provider's.
Please review these common mistakes:
- Putting in only an AOL screen name, like maryjane476, instead of maryjane476@aol.com
- Having a space in the address -- addresses for e-mail sent via the internet CAN NOT
have a spaces in them. If the AOL address you are sending to has one, eliminate it... like
"123 Cool Woman" would be 123CoolWoman@aol.com
- Putting a "," in instead of a ".", like maryjane476@aol,com instead of maryjane476@aol.com
- Valid e-mail addresses do not start with http://
- Valid e-mail addresses do not start with Internet: (that may be something your
firewall needs when you send mail from your office, but this mail is sent from us!)
- Valid e-mail addresses ALL have something to the left of an @ and something to the
right of it.
- Valid e-mail addresses ALL end in a TLD (Top Level Domain), like .com, .org, .edu,
.gov, .mil, .net, or a country like .us, .de, .fr, .jp, .kr, .nz, .il, .uk, .no, .au, .fi,
.nl, .se, .ca, .ch, .my, .dk, .ar, ETC.
If you put the address in wrong, you will not be notified, and the intended receiver will
not get your card. The mail will simply bounce back to us and be discarded. So please take
an extra moment to double check the e-mail address you are
sending the postcard to BEFORE
you send it!
